Advancing Care Through Innovative Research
Neuroimmune axis disorders are an emerging frontier of scientific discovery. Decoding the molecular and cellular interactions between the nervous, immune, endocrine, and gastrointestinal systems will revolutionize our understanding of complex multisystem disorders and dramatically impact how we practice medicine.
Accelerating Research Through Global Partnerships
Metrodora is building the framework that will allow patients to partner with leading academic and industry research teams to accelerate scientific discoveries that will be rapidly translated into life-changing diagnostics, therapies, and cures.
Biobank and Data Repository
The foundation of our research program is the first high-density biobank and data repository focused on neuroimmune axis disorders. Biological samples are coupled with genetics, multi-omics, immune profiling, biometrics, and clinical data to generate comprehensive longitudinal patient profiles. This unique resource will allow us to discover new biomarkers and genes associated with specific disease states, as well as improve disease diagnostics and the classification of neuroimmune axis disorders.
Clinical Translation
The Metrodora Institute was specifically designed to facilitate close collaboration between our research and clinical teams. Our unique model actively integrates research programs with clinical care to ensure the rapid translation of discoveries from the bench to bedside.
Clinical Trials
Clinical trials are critical to safe development of new treatments for neuroimmune axis disorders. At Metrodora we are partnering with industry and academic experts to repurpose drugs, test new medications and therapies, and develop next-generation medical devices.
Research Roadmap
Our research roadmap is strategically focused on key areas that are most likely to lead to breakthroughs in the understanding of and treatment for neuroimmune axis disorders.
Genetic contributions to neuroimmune axis disorders
We are using whole genome sequencing and epigenetics to accelerate the discovery of genetic variants associated with various neuroimmune axis disorders. This will change the landscape of how these diseases are characterized and diagnosed.
Biomarker discovery and validation
Biomarkers play critical roles in identifying disease and determining disease severity. We are using transcriptomics, metabolomics, proteomics, epigenetics, deep immune profiling, and biometrics to more accurately characterize disease, track, and even predict future disease severity over time.
Characterization of immune dysfunction
The gastrointestinal tract is the largest interface of the nervous, immune, and endocrine systems. Deep immune profiling of innate and adaptive cells, immune mediators, and metabolites using high-resolution cytometry and multi-omics approaches will deepen our understanding of how these body systems interact with and regulate each other in neuroimmune axis disorders.
Gastrointestinal microbiota interactions
Microbes play an important role in health and disease. Single-cell resolution three-dimensional mapping of microbiota-host interactions along the length of the GI tract will yield unprecedented insights into the biology and causes of GI symptoms in neuroimmune axis disorders.
