FOR PATIENTS

Advanced Care Through Collaborative Medicine

Metrodora Institute is unlike any other clinic or hospital—by design. Traditional medical models focus on individual body systems, which often prevents coordinated care.

We understand that you are more than the sum of your parts. And we know that the best care for neuroimmune axis disorders requires a team of specialists who collaborate with each other—and with you—to find answers.

The Metrodora Institute Patient-Partner Experience

The medical journey with neuroimmune axis disorders is a complex one. Most of our patients have seen many doctors and remain without a proper diagnosis or successful treatment.

We believe the best care for these complex conditions involves collaboration. Our world-class team brings expertise from various specialties to provide a differentiated level of care.

At Metrodora, the patient journey starts with a specialist appropriate for your needs. As we learn more about your condition, we involve other experts as needed. Our team includes doctors with specialty expertise in:

  • Neurogastroenterology
  • Neurology
  • Immunology
  • Genetics
  • Cardiology
  • Endocrinology
  • Rheumatology
  • Pain Medicine
  • Neurorehabilitation Medicine

Our services are typically provided over several days and include:

  • A comprehensive intake to ensure personalization of your care
  • Advanced diagnostics procedures
  • Evaluations with clinical specialists and our rehabilitation team

At the end of your stay, you will receive a comprehensive summary and care plan.

What Are Neuroimmune Axis Disorders?

The human body is extraordinarily complex, requiring multiple organ systems to work together to function properly and maintain health. The neuroimmune axis plays a critical role in coordinating multi-directional communication between the nervous, immune, endocrine, and gastrointestinal systems. The nervous and immune systems impact everything, so dysregulation of these communication networks can lead to debilitating, often chronic medical conditions that simultaneously affect multiple body systems.

Many chronic multisystem conditions fall under the neuroimmune axis umbrella. The current classification for many of these disorders is based on symptoms, not on validated biomarkers or an understanding of the molecular and cellular cause of disease. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for people to receive multiple diagnoses from different specialists, which can lead to contradictory treatment plans that patients are left to manage on their own. Metrodora Institute’s multidisciplinary model for care is designed to change this.

Neuroimmune axis disorders include many conditions that fall under the following umbrellas:

This list is by no means complete. Many chronic conditions fall under the neuroimmune axis designation. It is also not uncommon for someone to have more than one condition on this list.
